Fuelling Inflammation: The Chronic Effects of Poorly Digested Food on Your Body
Published on 15 June, 2023
When undigested food proteins venture into our bloodstream, they trigger an immune response, leading to the production of specific IgG antibodies. This immune reaction can have detrimental effects on our well-being and overall performance. The consequences may range from local inflammation to systemic reactions, impacting our health negatively. Furthermore, this process can cause local ischemia, as red blood cells are redirected to the muscles, potentially increasing intestinal permeability, and elevating the risk of adverse food reactions.
What makes matters more challenging is that IgG food hypersensitivity can manifest with delayed symptoms, often appearing hours or even days after consumption. Sometimes, these reactions occur silently, making them nearly impossible to identify without proper testing. Connecting a food item we ate a couple of days ago to symptoms we experience today can be a perplexing task.
Here’s another crucial aspect: the foods we consume regularly or daily could induce chronic inflammation, which offers little chance of recovery. Chronic inflammation brings about a series of consequences, such as reduced oxygen supply due to red blood cell clumping, impairing the transfer of oxygen and hastening the anaerobic phase. Additionally, it leads to a decrease in sugar availability within muscle cells. The inflammatory mediator TNF-α inhibits the insulin receptor, hampering our muscles’ ability to generate sufficient energy.
Moreover, chronic inflammation contributes to the formation of Advanced Glycation End products (AGE), resulting in tendon and muscle fibre stiffness and subsequently increasing the risk of injuries.
In a captivating study involving swimmers over a 45-day period, a double-blind crossover design revealed the tremendous benefits of an ImuPro guided diet, which excluded trigger foods specific to each individual:
• On average, participants experienced a 10% increase in their VO2 max (with one case achieving a remarkable 44% boost).
• Lactate levels dropped by an impressive 50%.
• Body fat decreased by 4.5% (and as much as 24% in one instance).
• Body weight saw a reduction of 2.5% (and up to 6.3% in one case) when compared to a standard diet that included personal trigger foods.
• Athletes also enjoyed expedited recovery, as demonstrated by a remarkable 16% decrease in heart rate.
Notably, once the athletes returned to the standard diet, they reverted to their initial values, further validating the effectiveness of the ImuPro guided dietary approach.
In summary, understanding the repercussions of undigested food proteins on our immune system and overall well-being emphasizes the importance of tailored diets to combat chronic inflammation and optimise our physical performance. The study findings highlight the immense potential of an ImuPro guided diet in achieving remarkable improvements across various health parameters.
